My name is Kevin Portmann. I am a professional triathlete and USAT certified coach. I coach athletes of all abilities, locally in San Diego and around the world. No matter where you're located, I am committed to helping you achieve your athletic goals.

Are we a good fit?

We talk about your goals, sporting background, and what your expectations of a coach are. We discuss my training approach and I try to answer any questions you may have, and hopefully we move forward!

II Onboarding

How do you set up my training plan(s)?

We get you set up in TrainingPeaks and develop a high level training plan (periodization)

We work around your personal and professional life so that training does not add stress to your day-to-day (or to your family!)

We adjust the training until we find the right balance

III Training and Racing

How do you track my training progression?

We set up your training 2-3 weeks in TrainingPeaks at the time, taking into account any work or family trips

You let me know how the session went via TrainingPeaks, texts, etc. and I adjust your training if necessary

We test in all three sports with a metabolic test on the bike and run to accurately determine your training zones

We use your race results, experience, and feedback to refine your training

Gold plan

You have long term, hefty goals and are committed to becoming the best athlete you can be. You want a hands-on, one-on-one coach that motivates you and keeps you accountable

Platinum plan

You are fully committed, but you are not sure if you are in it for the long haul. You want a hands-on, one-on-one coach that motivates you and keeps you accountable

Consultation

You have raced in the past and want to race again, but you want to be in charge of your training! I would gladly talk to you about it!
